“Coregasm”- I had no idea….

Exercise induced orgasm

Who knew exercise could be so much fun?

I am going to begin this with a very important warning- please DO NOT read any further if you have no sense of humor or are offended by the mere mention of the word “sex”. If this is you please click away now.

Ok, now that I have your attention I wanted to present to you some new research that has uncovered what I believe to be the best reason EVER for working out…

Exercise induced orgasm.

No, I am not kidding. Researchers from Indiana University have identified 4 types of exercise that have been found to induce spontaneous orgasm or “coregasm” as they described it. Before you head to the gym with hopes of a happy ending here is what one of the researchers had to say:

”The most common exercises associated with exercise-induced orgasm were abdominal exercises, climbing poles or ropes, biking/spinning and weight lifting. These data are interesting because they suggest that orgasm is not necessarily a sexual event, and they may also teach us more about the bodily processes underlying women’s experiences of orgasm.”

As a result of these findings researchers have coined the phrases “exercise induced orgasm” and “exercise induced sexual pleasure.”

Sorry guys, you read that correctly- this appears to be a female only phenomenon.

I cannot attest to having any clients actually admitting to having this happen to them during one of our workout sessions but from what I gathered from reading the article the following exercise has the potential to be the best of your life:

The Vertical Knee Raise. This is actually NOT one of my favorite abdominal exercises (as it emphasizes the hip flexors more than the abs depending on how you do them). I am also not a huge fan of ab exercises that require a machine. However, most gyms have this apparatus and you can see a video of the exercise here: http://bit.ly/Inu3WC

Don’t be surprised if there is a line up to use it the next time you go to the gym (at least you know why now).

Before you dismiss this post as utter nonsense please understand that I am not making this up. I came across an article entitled “Some women orgasm during exercise” on the very reputable website Medical News Today where I often source scientific literature.

You can read the entire article yourself by clicking this link:

I hope this gave you a laugh- life is too short to always take everything so seriously. Also, please don’t be shy- let me know if YOU have any experience with this phenomenon!!

Have a great week,

Bruce

You can laugh, but this is a fact. If you look at the comments to the article in Medical News Today, there are some from women who have experienced it. It’s not bizarre, it’s not about “willing” it to happen, or finally feeling “liberated” – it’s a physiological response, plain and simple.

I’ve had this happen – years ago when the latest craze of “Ab Rollers” hit the market I first discovered it. So, like the article suggests, for me it was when I was doing abdominal exercises. I thought it was sorta odd and never told a soul, glad it is not just me :)
